Materials 2

Just a small pile of odds and ends that might work well for the hammer.

This is a chunk of railroad track that I am thinking will work well for my forging dies. I have never seen this done before, but am willing to try. I know track has been used many times for a makeshift anvil. I will need to build up the sides for impact. Also, I think I can use Rob Gunthers Super Quench to harden the dies.

I was able to remove the turnbuckle without too much problem. I can re-thread the rod and it will be as good as new.

Materials

A piece of I-beam about 5ft long. Hoping to use this as my main post, or back-bone. About 6" in flange width, and about 12" wide.

I received a small bundle of "sucker rod" from a friend. This material was sitting at his dad's place for about 20 years. I am thinking about using this as the tie rod connector from the motor cam to the back end of the leaf spring.

Starting

I am going to build a Power hammer. I have plans and will be posting my progress here on this blog. I am just starting with plans and collecting material.
I will soon post pictures of what I have gathered so far. And will post an occasional video as I get going. Be patient and stay in touch and hopefully I will have a fully functional hammer in a few short months.
I have a full time job and a wife and two kids, so progress on this may be slow at times, but I will push forward as much as possible and will keep this blog updated so you can always know what step I am on.
Pics and info to come in the next few days.
